Thesis and Dissertation Workshops

Formatting Workshops

In collaboration with the Graduate Center, formatting workshops will be offered during the Fall 2025 semester featuring a presentation of the procedures for submitting your master’s thesis to the Thesis and Dissertation Office, thesis formatting rules, and the review process leading up to graduation clearance and ProQuest publication. At the end of the presentation, students will participate in a mock editing activity to simulate (and demystify!) the format editing process.

New the Fall 2025 semester is a workshop on Chicago style for students who are writing their thesis in this format. This workshop will provide an overview of Chicago Style (formatting, not pizza!), with a particular focus on its two citation systems: notes-bibliography and author-date. At the end of the presentation, students will participate in a mock editing exercise to practice applying Chicago format.

Department or college-specific seminars can be set up by departmental graduate advisors or committee chairs in cooperation with the Thesis and Dissertation Office. Professors/graduate advisors can contact Cecilia Paredes for more information.
