Neil Hultgren: Academic Senate

Passed the following issues this year:

  • Selection and term of office for NCAA rep 鈥 bringing in line with NCAA standards
  • CFA: Resolution passed for employees facing federal immigration policies
  • Elections for upcoming year (Chair, VC, Sec): Neil Hultgren, Bryon Katz- elected
  • MS in Bioengineering program

Stacey Shack: Staff Development

  • Employee of the Month: Gabe Rodriguez, CED
  • Best of the Beach: University Police for their safety videos
  • L&D Spotlight: 鈥淒elegating with Confidence鈥 theme
  • Toolkits: on-demand resources on workplace competencies, e.g., Communication, team building, leadership, etc.

Sabrina Dean, ATS: Zoom AI Companion

Sabrina provided a brief overview of the Zoom AI Companion features: how to identify when it's active, access its interface, and ask questions. Instructional designers in ATS are available to help both faculty and staff with questions about academic technology tools.

Ricki Burgener, URD: Commencement & Community Resources (DEALS!) for ALL

  • Visited over 150 businesses personally and collected a list of discounts and deals= incentives for people attending commencement. Deals are offered to students, families, the MD传媒入口 community.
  • Some deals are only good for commencement weekend, but Ricki is planning to revisit and see if local biz can extend discounts further for our campus community
  • Many of the businesses are Alumni-owned!

  • Pot-A-Plant Activity! Back by popular demand! We'll provide planting materials and small succulent cuttings for you to build your own creation.
  • Got ugly coffee mugs or other vessels cluttering your life? We also welcome any donations of plant cuttings or soil for the project. Just bring them along to the event or contact staff-council@csulb.edu to coordinate assistance.

CSU Academic Resources Conference, May 27-29

鈥淓ach year from across the 23 California State University (CSU) campuses by bringing together Admins, Analysts, Assistants, Coordinators, and Specialists from Humboldt to San Diego at a multi-day conference to attend a variety of diversified educational and skill building sessions while networking with CSU professionals and colleagues in similar positions.鈥
