Matt Lesenyie, an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at Cal State Long Beach, spoke with about the race for governor in California now that Kamala Harris announced she is not running. Lesenyie said voters may actually see a competition play out, especially for Democrats. He also said there could be an opening for a celebrity with strong name recognition and the ability to self-fund their own campaign to enter the race.
